Re: Transportation Committee Meeting October 6, 2009
Item # 6 - Hunt Club Road In-Service Road Safety Review

The Hunt Club Community Organization (HCCO) has identified a safety concern with respect to pedestrian and bicyclist use of Hunt Club Road at its intersections with the Airport Parkway and with the Transitway.

This is part of the corridor covered in the Hunt Club Road In-Service Road Safety Review (Review).

These concerns are related to the amount of motor vehicle traffic (public and private), the 8 intersecting on and off rams that cross the sidewalk and the path cyclist take at various angles, the lack of bicycle lanes and the narrowing of the Hunt Club road.

The HCCO has read the Review and noted that it has made some recommendations with respect to motor vehicle traffic but none with respect to pedestrian and bicycle safety.

Therefore, the HCCO feels that the City still needs to address the issue of pedestrian and bicycle safety along Hunt Club Road at the intersects with the Airport Parkway and with the Transitway.
