Councillor Briefing Notes: Community Legacy Program

Program Overview:

Ottawa 150 will be commemorated in association with community-oriented capital projects being completed or initiated in 2005, including one or two major capital projects of City-wide significance, and suitable minor capital projects in each of the City’s wards.  Commemorative plaques bearing the Ottawa 150 logo and ceremonies dedicating each project will occur throughout 2005.

 

Staff will work with Councillors to identify suitable projects that are enduring and accessible to the community, such as parks and recreation projects.  Where an appropriate project is not included on the 2005 minor capital works program, one from the 2006 program may be initiated and commemorated.

 

 

Criteria:

Projects identified for the Community Legacy Program should be capital projects that are:

 

There will be no cash equivalent distributed in lieu of plaques if no projects are identified.
