Projects & Action
In addition to representing the community regarding local issues to all levels of government, the HCCA has undertaken projects that promote: food security; the environment; and other initiatives that help build our community.
Project and Initiatives in 2026
The HCCA has big plans in the works for 2026! Notable initiatives include:
- updating and revitalizing our website: hunt-club.ca
- reviving our community newsletter with a brand new name! The first issue comes out on June 1st -the newsletter will be available on our website and at our community centre and local businesses.
- reviving our Facebook page
- supporting Dianne’s weekly Art Club at our community centre
- Park clean ups on April 18th (in support of Ottawa Cleaning the Capital campaign) and again on October 17th
- A ‘How to Start a Vegetable Garden’ workshop at our community centre on April 25th
- May 16th: 7th edition of Get Growing Hunt Club project, giving free veggie seeds and seedlings to registered participants https://hunt-club.ca/project/getgrowing/
- May 31st Yard Sale (in conjunction with a broader Ottawa South community) in support of our local Food Banks
- June 6th Arts in the Park event at Paul Landry Park – stay tuned for more info coming
- building and improving pollinator patch gardens planted around our community throughout the spring, summer and fall months
- removing invasive species in parks and other urban natural areas in Hunt Club throughout the summer and fall months
- an Old-Fashion Field Day Games and Picnic in the Park at Paul Landry Park on June 27th
- participation in the ‘Play Music on Your Porch Day’ on Saturday, August 29th
- our annual Fall Community Festival at the Hunt Club Community Centre grounds on Sept 12th
- a Puzzle Exchange Party on Oct 24th at our community centre
- creating and distributing Holiday Hampers to those in our community in need of support and cheer in the third week of December.
On top of all that, our HCCA has been leading a very comprehensive advocacy campaign to educate residents about the ecological value of our McCarthy Woods and Meadows.
